MAT Degree Pathway Options

Master of Athletic Training (MAT) Degree Pathways Summary

We offer traditional (4+2 year) and accelerated (3+2 year) degree pathways in Health Science and Applied Exercise Science. Accelerated pathways enable students to complete their undergraduate and graduate requirements within 5 years, rather than the traditional 6-year timeline.

Students enrolling in the MAT Program will receive a master’s degree in athletic training. The following MAT Program curriculum will be completed as the graduate portion of all accelerated (3+2) and traditional (4+2) degree pathways. The MAT Program can also be completed as a Stand-Alone curriculum for students transferring from another institution.

 

Accelerated MAT Pathway Options (3+2-Year Programs): Health Science or Applied Exercise Science

Students enrolling in the Accelerated Degree Pathway Options will receive a bachelor’s degree in their chosen major/concentration and a master’s degree in athletic training. After completing three years of undergraduate studies, students will begin their graduate studies in the summer of their junior year.

3+2 Accelerated Health Science
• Students will receive a bachelor’s degree in health science and a master’s degree in athletic training.

3+2 Accelerated Applied Exercise Science
• Students will receive a bachelor’s degree in applied exercise science and a master’s degree in athletic training.

Students enrolling in the Accelerated Advanced Degree Pathway Options will receive a bachelor’s degree in health science, a master’s degree in athletic training, and a doctorate degree in physical therapy. After completing three years of their undergraduate studies, students will begin their graduate studies the summer following graduation. The DPT program will start following the completion of the MAT program.


3+2+3 Accelerated BSHS/MAT/DPT

 

Traditional MAT Pathway Options (4+2-Year Programs): Health Science or Applied Exercise Science

Students enrolling in the Traditional Degree Pathway Options will receive a bachelor’s degree in their chosen major/concentration and a master’s degree in athletic training. After completing four years of their undergraduate studies, students will begin their graduate studies the summer following graduation.

4+2 Health Science
• Students will receive a bachelor’s degree in health science and a master’s degree in athletic training.

4+2 Applied Exercise Science
• Students will receive a bachelor’s degree in applied exercise science and a master’s degree in athletic training.

Articulation Agreements between External Institutions and º£½ÇÖ±²¥’s Graduate MAT Program

Articulation agreements between undergraduate institutions and º£½ÇÖ±²¥ guarantee students who successfully complete approved undergraduate prerequisite courses will be admitted into º£½ÇÖ±²¥’s MAT program.

Current undergraduate to MAT articulation agreements include:

  • Baldwin Wallace

Articulation agreements between high schools and º£½ÇÖ±²¥ guarantee students who successfully complete approved courses/programs will received undergraduate credit.

Current high school to º£½ÇÖ±²¥ articulation agreements include:

  • Erie Public Schools
  • Parkway West Career and Technology Center
  • Medina County Career Center
