海角直播’s Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) is a 2022 recipient of SAMHSA’s GLS Campus Suicide Prevention grant and is committed to campus-wide education, training, assessment, and prevention efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the entire campus community. Entering into a strategic partnership with JED Campus, a flagship initiative of The Jed Foundation, is one of these efforts. The JED Campus program is a collaborative process in which experts from JED provide support, evidence-based best practices, and data-driven guidance to enhance student mental health. In 2023, the university became a JED Campus, which exemplifies the campus-wide commitment to well-being. The JED Campus Team, comprised of faculty and staff from all areas of the university and both campuses, meet regularly to work on mental health initiatives across our campuses. Should a campus crisis occur, including a death by suicide of a member of the 海角直播 community, the university’s Crisis Response Team would work in conjunction with various campus departments to offer timely resources to support students and the entire campus community in the aftermath of the crisis. The Team would share relevant and appropriate information with the community to the extent possible.
CAPS has developed a postvention plan that would be implemented in the event of this sort of tragedy. This comprehensive plan was developed utilizing national best practices and tailoring it to the 海角直播 community.
